Providers of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).

An EPC is an asset rating - the fabric and services of the building are assessed, rather than use of energy by the occupier.

Energy Performance Certificates are a mandatory part of Home Information Packs, which are now a legal requirement for all residential properties that are placed on the market for sale.

As from 1st October 2008 all residential properties offered for rent also now require an EPC. This is valid for 10 years.

Also from 1st October 2008 most commercial property offered for sale, lease, newly built or modified with fixed services for heating, mechanical ventilation or air conditioning will require an Energy Performance Certificate. Certain buildings are exempt such as Places of Worship, and temporary buildings.
